The Grayson Murray Foundation was founded by Eric and Terry Murray after the heartbreaking loss of their son, Grayson, who sadly took his own life. The Foundation was born from the urgent need for greater awareness and support around mental health and addiction, as well as a commitment to funding innovative services and research.
Grayson envisioned creating a foundation dedicated to “helping the ones that want to be helped but might not have the help they need financially.” In his memory, his family channeled their overwhelming grief into a mission to improve the lives of individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges.
Through the Grayson Murray Foundation, they strive to fulfill Grayson’s vision by ensuring support is accessible to those in need and seeking help.

Jeff is an experienced board director and investor with over 35 years of business experience. In 2024, he retired after a decade from Boston Consulting Group as a Managing Director and Partner. He holds an MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University and a B.S. in Engineering from NC State University. Jeff was a mentor and supporter to Grayson and the two shared a special friendship for many years.
Eric Guckian is the Founding Executive Director of the Grayson Murray Foundation.
For more than two decades, Eric has dedicated his career to bringing people together around a shared purpose and building organizations that create lasting change. Whether serving in education, government, or philanthropy, his work has been grounded in a simple belief: every person deserves hope, opportunity, and the chance to thrive.
Most recently, Eric served as President and CEO of United Way of the Greater Triangle, where he led a transformational eight-year turnaround that raised more than $75 million and invested more than $50 million in community-led initiatives focused on mental health, economic mobility, education, housing, and disaster response. Earlier in his career, he served as Executive Director of Teach For America–North Carolina, Founding Executive Director of New Leaders Charlotte, and Senior Education Advisor to the Governor of North Carolina. Throughout each role, he has focused on building strong organizations, forging meaningful partnerships, and turning bold ideas into measurable impact.
Joining the Grayson Murray Foundation is both a tremendous honor and a profound responsibility. Eric is deeply grateful to the Foundation’s Board of Directors and the Murray family for the trust they have placed in him, and he is inspired by the opportunity to help carry Grayson’s legacy forward. Eric is committed to honoring Grayson’s vision of “helping the ones that want to be helped but might not have the help they need financially” and looks forward to working alongside the Murray family, partners, donors, and communities across the country to build a foundation worthy of Grayson’s name—one that expands access to mental health and addiction care, offers hope to individuals and families, and reminds people that no one has to face life’s hardest moments alone.
A first-generation college graduate, Eric began his career teaching elementary science in the South Bronx as a Teach For America corps member. He has been recognized with the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, North Carolina’s highest civilian honor, and the Teach For America Legacy of Impact Award for his decades of public service.
Eric earned his bachelor’s degree from Colgate University and his master’s degree in education from Harvard University. He lives in Durham, North Carolina, with his wife, Lisa, and their daughters, Scarlett and Elsa. When he’s not spending time with family, you’ll likely find him running, practicing hot yoga, listening to vinyl records, or getting lost in a good book.
Kevin is a Principal and Executive Vice President of Golf at GSE Worldwide, a leader in the sports marketing and athlete management industry. He proudly served as Grayson’s agent throughout his career after Grayson turned professional in 2015. He has represented professional golfers as well as other athletes for almost 30 years.
Erica Robinson is Grayson’s sister and a passionate advocate for mental health and addiction recovery, dedicated to honoring her brother’s legacy through her work with the foundation. She graduated from NC State University in 2010 with a B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Erica currently works in commercial real estate, as a Senior Property Manager, at The Spectrum Companies.
Grayson’s mom Terry comes to the Board after working for 34 years with the Supreme Court of North Carolina. She retired in 2019 and since then has cherished spending quality time with her family and engaging in volunteer work. Following the loss of Grayson, Terry and her husband Eric founded the Grayson Murray Foundation with the mission of “raising awareness of mental health and addiction challenges faced by individuals from all walks of life.”
Dr. Davis is a Harvard-trained, board-certified Child, Adolescent, and Adult psychiatrist with advanced performance coach training, specializing in mental coaching for PGA Tour players, other elite athletes, and business executives. He holds a B.S. from the University of Michigan and an M.D. from the University of Virginia. A passionate advocate for mental health awareness and destigmatization, Dr. Davis is dedicated to breaking down barriers and fostering supportive spaces for mental wellness conversations
Jack is a partner with Wyrick Robbins Yates & Ponton LLP, a Raleigh-based law firm that works with and supports businesses and non-profit organizations (including the Grayson Murray Foundation). He is a North Carolina native and long-time Raleigh resident. As with most people, Jack has had family and close friends impacted by mental health challenges and is proud to support the Foundation’s efforts to raise awareness and expand access to care for those most in need in the Raleigh community and beyond. Jack holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
Sam Hahn is a visionary entrepreneur and creative force who turns unconventional ideas into remarkable results. As Co-Founder and former CEO of L.A.B. Golf, he transformed a traditional industry by blending innovation with a people-first approach, love, unity, curiosity and an openness to new perspectives. He thrives on connecting people and ideas.
Now serving on the Board of Directors for the Grayson Murray Foundation, Sam channels that same energy and drive into advancing awareness and support for mental health and addiction, helping build communities where people feel seen, understood, and empowered to thrive.
